Role: Disability Support Assistant
Location: Blandford
Salary: £12.82 - £14.72 Per Hour (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Full-time/Part-time

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Disability Support Assistant to join a welcoming school in Blandford. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to provide tailored support to students, helping them overcome challenges and thrive in their learning environment.
Responsibilities of a Disability Support Assistant:
- Provide one-to-one or group support to students with physical or learning disabilities, ensuring their needs are met during classroom and extracurricular activities.
- Assist with personal care tasks, such as feeding, toileting, or mobility, while maintaining dignity and respect for the student.
- Adapt resources and learning materials to ensure accessibility for all students.
- Support the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and work collaboratively with teachers and SENCOs.
- Encourage independence and self-confidence in students by promoting skill development and problem-solving.
- Monitor and document student progress, sharing observations with staff and parents.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of students during transitions, break times, and trips.
Requirements of a Disability Support Assistant:
- Experience supporting individuals with disabilities in an educational or care setting is desirable.
- Knowledge of disability-related needs, including mobility, sensory, and communication requirements.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with staff, students, and families.
- A compassionate, patient, and respectful approach to supporting individuals with disabilities.
- Relevant qualifications, such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant certificate or care-related training, are advantageous.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
- An Enhanced DBS registered to the update service or willingness to apply for one.
