Location: Locks Heath
Salary Range: £12.82 - £14.72 per hour (Depending on experience)
Start time: ASAP
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

About the role:

As a SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will play an integral role in fostering a supportive and stimulating environment for children with diverse needs. Collaborating with teachers, specialists and families, your dedication will empower students to achieve their fullest potential, both academically and personally.

Responsibilities of the SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA):

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with special educational needs, helping them engage with the curriculum effectively.
  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) to meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Collaborate with teachers and support staff to create an inclusive and supportive classroom environment.
  • Monitor and record student progress, offering feedback to teachers and parents to aid in their development.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, encouraging their social, emotional and academic growth.

Requirements of the SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA):

  • Prior experience working as an SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), or in a similar capacity within an educational setting.
  • A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) is desirable but not essential.
  • A strong understanding of SEN and experience supporting children with Autism, ADHD and SEMH needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, teachers and families.
  • Patience, resilience and adaptability to support diverse learning needs.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding policies and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of student welfare.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
