GSL Education are seeking a committed and compassionate Behaviour Support Worker to join schools in Christchurch. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of students who need extra support to overcome behavioural challenges.

As a Behaviour Support Worker, you will work closely with students to promote positive behaviour and provide tailored interventions. Your role will help students build confidence, develop social skills, and reach their full potential in a nurturing and supportive educational setting.

As a Behaviour Support Worker, what you’ll have to do:

  • Provide one-to-one or group support to students struggling with behavioural challenges.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies to help students stay engaged in their learning.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and parents to create personalised behaviour plans.
  • Offer a calm and patient approach to de-escalate challenging situations.
  • Encourage students to build resilience and develop coping mechanisms.
  • Monitor and document progress, reporting to relevant school staff.
  • Act as a positive role model, inspiring confidence and self-esteem in students.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with young people with challenging behaviour is essential.
  • Any degree in Psychology, Education or in similar field.
  • Training or certification in behaviour management (e.g., Team Teach) is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • A patient, empathetic, and solution-focused approach to support.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure and manage challenging situations professionally.

  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from the last two years.
  • Possess an enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
