GSL Education are delighted to offer an opportunity for a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Needs (SEN) TA to join schools in Christchurch. This is a rewarding role for individuals looking to work closely with children who need additional support to succeed in their academic journey.

About the Role:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored support to students with diverse needs, enabling them to access the curriculum and thrive within the school environment. Your role will involve working one-to-one or with small groups of students, supporting them in overcoming barriers to learning.

SEN TA Responsibilities:

  • Assist students with special educational needs in their academic, social, and personal development.
  • Deliver one-to-one or small group support tailored to individual learning plans.
  • Promote positive behaviour and help students build their confidence and independence.
  • Collaborate with teachers and SENCOs to adapt learning materials and strategies to meet student needs.
  • Support the classroom teacher in managing the learning environment effectively.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff and parents as required.
  • Ensure the physical and emotional well-being of students at all times.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Psychology, Education or in a similar field.
  • Experience working with children with special educational needs as a SEN TA is essential.
  • A Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or equivalent, is desirable but not mandatory.
  • A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach to working with children.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic school environment and respond to the needs of students.

  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from the last two years.
  • Possess an enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
