Salary: £83.33 - £95 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: Full Time / Long Term

GSL Education are currently seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support students within the SEN Department of a secondary school. This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with students who need extra support to achieve their full potential.

About the Role:

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in the SEN Department, supporting students across KS3 and KS4. You will assist students with additional needs both inside and outside the classroom, providing one-to-one support or working with small groups.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to students with additional needs, helping them engage with lessons and access the curriculum.
  • Work alongside teachers and the SENCO to implement individual learning plans for students.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment, encouraging students’ confidence and participation.
  • Support students’ social, emotional, and academic development, adapting your approach to meet their individual needs.
  • Help manage classroom behaviour positively and constructively to ensure a safe and productive learning environment.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to the teaching team to inform future support strategies.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A genuine passion for working with young people and supporting those with additional needs.
  • Experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a flexible attitude to meet the needs of students with varying abilities.
  • A proactive and enthusiastic approach to making a difference in students’ lives.

  • Have an up-to-date CV and two relevant references from within the last two years.
  • Have an enhanced DBS registered with the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
