GSL Education are seeking an enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a welcoming and inclusive school in Winton. This role is ideal for individuals committed to fostering a nurturing learning environment and ensuring every student has the opportunity to reach their full potential.
About The Role:
As a Learning Support Assistant (LSA), you will play a key role in assisting students who require additional academic, social, or emotional support. Working closely with teachers, SEN coordinators and pastoral staff, you will provide one-on-one and small-group interventions, ensuring that pupils remain engaged, motivated and confident in their learning.
Responsibilities of Learning Support Assistant (LSA):
- Provide tailored one-to-one and small group support to students, assisting with academic work, social skills and emotional well-being.
- Work collaboratively with teachers to implement personalised learning strategies and adapt lesson materials to meet students’ individual needs.
- Assist students with special educational needs, ensuring they receive the appropriate support in line with their Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment, promoting confidence, independence and a love for learning.
- Monitor student progress, providing feedback to teachers and supporting students in setting and achieving personal goals.
- Assist in the management of classroom behaviour, implementing strategies to encourage positive engagement and participation.
- Support students with their social interactions, helping them develop communication and interpersonal skills.
- Supervise students during break times and assist with extra-curricular activities where required.
- Ensure the well-being and safety of students at all times, following safeguarding procedures and school policies.
The successful candidate will:
- A relevant qualification in education, childcare, SEN, or a related field (desirable but not essential).
- Prior experience as a Learning Support Assistant or in a similar role within an educational setting.
- A strong understanding of supporting students with SEN, EAL and behavioural needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students, staff and parents.
- A patient, empathetic and proactive approach to assisting students in overcoming learning barriers.
- The ability to work collaboratively within a team and adapt to different classroom environments.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
