Job Title: Computer Science Teacher
Location: Southampton
Salary: £30,000 - £46,535 per annum (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate/Easter 2025 start

Contract Type: Full-time/Permanent/Fixed-term

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated Computer Science Teacher to join a thriving secondary school in Southampton. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic educator to deliver engaging lessons that foster curiosity, problem-solving and creativity in computing.


About the Role/Role Overview

As a Computer Science Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality lessons in programming, algorithms, data representation and emerging technologies across Key Stages 3 and 4, with potential opportunities to teach at A-Level. You will inspire students to develop a deep understanding of computational thinking and digital literacy, preparing them for future careers in technology and beyond.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and challenging lessons in Computer Science, aligned with the national curriculum.
  • Teach fundamental computing concepts, including coding (Python, Java, or other relevant languages), networking, cyber security and software development.
  • Support students in developing their programming and coding skills through hands-on projects and real-world applications.
  • Stay updated with advancements in technology and incorporate new developments into lesson planning.
  • Promote extracurricular computing activities, such as coding clubs, robotics competitions and hackathons.

Computer Science Teacher requirements: To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or overseas qualified teacher is a must.
  • Proven experience teaching Computer Science at the secondary level, ideally across Key Stages 3 and 4 (A-level experience is desirable).
  • Strong subject knowledge in programming languages (such as Python, Java, or C++) and computational theory.
  • A passion for integrating real-world technological advancements into classroom teaching.
  • Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to inspire students in the field of computing.
  • A commitment to inclusive education, with the ability to differentiate teaching for diverse learning needs.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
