GSL Education are looking for a compassionate and experienced 1:1 Autism Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school in Lincoln. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with a child with autism, providing tailored support to help them thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Your Role:
As a 1:1 Autism Teaching Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in creating a supportive and structured learning environment for a student with autism. Your dedicated support will enable them to engage with the curriculum, build confidence, and achieve their potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one support for a child with autism, helping them access lessons and activities effectively.
- Implement strategies to manage sensory and behavioural needs, ensuring a calm and focused environment.
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to develop and deliver personalised learning plans.
- Foster a positive relationship with the student to build trust and encourage independence.
- Monitor progress and provide feedback to teachers, parents, and other professionals involved in the student’s care.
- Assist the student in developing social skills and participating in group activities.
What We’re Looking For:
We are seeking an individual with experience in supporting children with autism or other special educational needs. The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience in a similar role or working with children with SEN, particularly autism.
- Knowledge of autism-specific strategies and interventions.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build a positive rapport with students, staff, and families.
- A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting individual learning needs.
- Relevant qualifications such as a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant certificate are desirable but not essential.
