GSL Education are seeking a caring and motivated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Cosham. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with students who have special educational needs, empowering them to achieve their goals in a safe and encouraging environment.
About the Role:
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside teachers and support staff to create an inclusive learning experience tailored to the needs of each student. You’ll play a vital role in building confidence and fostering independence in students with additional needs.
SEN Teaching Assistant (TA) Key Responsibilities:
- Provide focused support to students with SEN, helping them engage with lessons and complete activities.
- Collaborate with teachers to adapt classroom materials and develop effective learning strategies.
- Promote social skills and emotional well-being, encouraging positive behaviour and interactions.
- Support the implementation of personalised learning plans and track student progress.
- Assist during transitions, breaks, and extracurricular activities to ensure student safety and inclusion.
- Act as a trusted adult for students, building strong, supportive relationships to enhance their learning experience.
What We’re Looking For:
We are seeking an individual with a genuine passion for supporting students with SEN. The ideal candidate will possess:
- Prior experience working with children with SEN, though not essential, is highly desirable.
- A basic understanding of a variety of SEN conditions, such as autism, ADHD, or dyslexia.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
- A patient and adaptable approach, with a commitment to meeting individual learning needs.
- Relevant qualifications, such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant certificate, are advantageous but not required.
