Salary: £90 - £110 per day (Depending on experience).

If so, GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and experienced Residential Support professional to join a reputable school in Newcastle. About the Role:
As a Residential Support, you will play a crucial role in providing care, guidance, and emotional support to students in a school-based residential setting. You will work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff to ensure students feel safe, valued, and supported in their personal and academic journeys. The role involves both daytime and evening responsibilities, focusing on mentoring, safeguarding, and fostering positive relationships with young people who may have additional needs, including Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties.
Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality residential care to students, ensuring their safety, well-being, and emotional security.
- Support students with daily routines, including morning preparation, study sessions, and bedtime routines.
- Foster a positive and structured living environment, promoting independence and life skills.
- Act as a mentor and role model, encouraging personal growth, self-confidence, and resilience in students.
- Assist with educational support, helping students with homework, revision, and skill development.
- Implement and adhere to safeguarding policies, ensuring students feel protected and supported.
- Manage behaviour effectively, using de-escalation strategies and positive reinforcement.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to address individual student needs.
- Keep accurate records and documentation related to student progress, incidents, and well-being.
- Engage in regular training and professional development, staying up to date with best practices in residential support.
Residential Support requirements:
- Previous experience in a Residential Support role, particularly in an educational or care setting.
- Relevant qualifications in child care, social work, psychology, or SEN support (e.g., Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare, NVQ in Health and Social Care).
- A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies.
- Experience working with young people who have SEN, SEMH, or additional behavioural needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships.
- Patience, resilience, and the ability to manage challenging behaviours calmly and professionally.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings and occasional weekends.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
