SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Basingstoke

Salary: £12.82 - £14.72 Per Hour (Depending on experience)

Start Date: Immediate

Job Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are seeking a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant (TA) to join a nurturing and inclusive school in Basingstoke. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a

real difference in the lives of students, providing essential support to help them overcome barriers and achieve their full potential. You will work closely with teachers and staff to deliver tailored support, fostering an environment where every student can thrive.

Responsibilities of an SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Assist students with SEN, both in the classroom and on a 1:1 basis.
  • Help implement individualised education plans (IEPs) to meet students' specific needs.
  • Support students’ learning and emotional development, promoting independence and self-confidence.
  • Work alongside the class teacher to provide a positive and inclusive learning experience.
  • Assist with personal care tasks if required, ensuring dignity and respect at all times.
  • Maintain clear communication with teachers, parents, and other professionals involved in the students' education.

Requirements of an SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Previous experience working with children, especially those with SEN, is desirable but not essential.
  • A compassionate, patient, and proactive approach to supporting students.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • An enhanced DBS check or the willingness to undergo one.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
