Learning Support Assistant

Location: Christchurch

Salary: £12.82 - £14.72 per hour (Depending on experience)

Start Date: Immediate

Contract Type: Full-Time/Part-Time

 GSL Education are looking for a dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a supportive and inclusive school in Christchurch. In this role, you will have the chance to make a meaningful impact by assisting students in overcoming barriers to learning and helping them build confidence and independence.

Responsibilities of a Learning Support Assistant:

  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with a range of learning needs.
  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and modify classroom materials to suit the needs of each student.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other staff members to create a positive, inclusive learning environment.
  • Encourage students to engage fully in their learning and promote their social and emotional well-being.
  • Track student progress and contribute to regular feedback to parents and the teaching team.

Requirements of a Learning Support Assistant:

  • Previous experience in a support role, particularly with children or young people with additional learning needs, is desirable.
  • A patient, understanding, and adaptable approach to supporting students.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.
  • A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection principles.
