Autism Teaching Assistant

Location: Lincoln, Lincolnshire

Start Date: Immediate

Salary: £83.33 - £95.00 per day (Depending on experience)

Contract Type: Full-Time

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Autism Teaching Assistant (TA) to join an inspiring SEN school in Lincoln. This rewarding role provides an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of students with autism by helping them overcome challenges and thrive in a supportive learning environment.

Responsibilities of an Autism Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide personalised support to students with ASD, both on a one-to-one and group basis.
  • Assist in planning and delivering tailored learning activities that meet individual needs.
  • Encourage social interaction and help build students' confidence and independence.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other SEN professionals to implement effective strategies.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to the teaching team and parents.


Requirements of an Autism Teaching Assistant:

  • Experience working with children or young people with autism or additional needs is essential.
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting students.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of autism-specific strategies such as PECS or TEACCH is desirable.
  • A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.
  • A thorough understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices.
