Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Hayling Island
Salary Range: £12.82 - £14.72 per hour (Depending on experience)
Start time: ASAP
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are working with a vibrant and inclusive school that prides itself on providing a high standard of education and support for all students, including those with special educational needs. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant (TA) to join our team in Hayling Island and make a positive impact on the learning and development of our pupils.

Role Overview:

As a SEN Teaching Assistant (TA), you will work closely with the class teacher and other members of the support team to assist students with a variety of special educational needs. You will provide tailored support to ensure that each child can reach their full potential in both academic and social development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one or small group support for students with special educational needs (SEN).
  • Support students in their classroom activities, ensuring they understand tasks and feel engaged in their learning.
  • Assist with the preparation and adaptation of resources to meet the specific needs of the students.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other staff to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and learning strategies.
  • Promote the social, emotional and physical well-being of students.
  • Support students during break times and extracurricular activities.
  • Help manage classroom behaviour and encourage positive interactions among students.
  • Maintain accurate records of progress and contribute to regular assessments and reports.

Ideal Candidate:
We are looking for someone who is passionate about supporting children with special educational needs and is committed to helping them thrive. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience working with SEN students or relevant training in special education is preferred.
  • A degree in Psychology, Education, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of various SEN, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD and Speech and Language difficulties.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
  • A genuine passion for working with children with special educational needs.

To work with GSL Education as a SEN Teaching Assistant, you should:

  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years.
  • Have an Enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education.
