Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Gosport
Salary Range: £12.82 - £14.72 per hour (Depending on experience)
Start time: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are thrilled to present an exciting opportunity for a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join a dynamic and inclusive school in Gosport. This role is ideal for individuals who are motivated to provide personalised support and help students achieve their full potential in an inclusive and supportive environment.

About the role:

As a SEN Teaching Assistant (TA), you will provide tailored support to boost student learning and engagement in various classroom settings. Working closely with teaching staff, specialists and families, you will enable students to overcome barriers to learning and succeed in their education.

Responsibilities of the SEN Teaching Assistant (TA):

  • Implement Educational Healthcare Plans (EHCPs) to address individual student needs effectively.
  • Assist with behavioural management strategies to promote positive conduct and a supportive learning atmosphere.
  • Foster an inclusive environment that encourages participation and engagement from all students.
  • Collaborate closely with teachers and other staff members to ensure seamless support for students with special educational needs.
  • Monitor and document student progress, sharing insights with the educational team to facilitate ongoing improvement.

Requirements of the SEN Teaching Assistant (TA):

  • Previous experience working with SEN students or relevant training in special education is preferred.
  • A degree in Psychology, Education, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of various SEN, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD and Speech and Language difficulties.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
  • A genuine passion for working with children with special educational needs.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
