Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Portsmouth
Salary Range: £12.82 - £14.72 per hour (Depending on experience)
Start time: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are on the lookout for a committed and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant school in Portsmouth. You will provide exceptional support to students with special educational needs, Helping them achieve their full potential through individualised and compassionate support.
About the role:
In the role of a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be essential in uplifting students with special educational needs, guaranteeing they benefit from a tailored and inclusive educational experience. Collaborating closely with the classroom teacher, you will modify lessons and deliver individualised support to nurture each student's social, emotional and academic growth.
Responsibilities of the SEN Teaching Assistant (TA):
- Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's needs.
- Deliver high-quality, differentiated instruction to students with SEN.
- Work closely with classroom Teaching Assistants to create an inclusive learning environment.
- Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting strategies as needed.
- Provide support and guidance to Teaching Assistants and other staff working with SEN students.
- Communicate regularly with parents and carers about student progress and needs.
- Stay informed about current best practices and developments in special education.
Requirements of the SEN Teaching Assistant (TA):
- Previous experience working with SEN students or relevant training in special education is preferred.
- A degree in Psychology, Education, or a related field.
- Knowledge of various SEN, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD and Speech and Language difficulties.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
- A genuine passion for working with children with special educational needs.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
