Teaching Assistant
Location: Southampton
Salary: £12.82 to £14.72 per hour (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: Day-to-Day / Long-Term, Full-Time / Part-Time

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant (TA) to join a welcoming school in Southampton. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the academic, social, and emotional development of students while working in a collaborative and supportive environment.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other school staff to support students in the classroom, ensuring they remain engaged and motivated. You will assist with lesson delivery, encourage active participation, and help students reach their full potential. This role is perfect for individuals who are passionate about education and driven to create a positive impact on young learners.
Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one or small group support to students during lessons.
- Assist the teacher in preparing and delivering engaging lesson materials and activities.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel supported.
- Monitor and record student progress and provide feedback to the teacher.
- Support students in developing essential skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving.
- Supervise students during break times, lunch, and other non-classroom activities.
- Help maintain a safe and organised classroom environment.
- Collaborate with school staff to support students' overall development.
Requirements for a TA:
- Prior experience working in a classroom or education setting as a Teaching Assistant is preferred.
- Any degree in Psychology, Education or in a similar field.
- CACHE Level 3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Teaching Assistant or childcare, or similar qualification.
- A genuine passion for education and helping students succeed.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Patience, adaptability, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- A solid understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- An Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one.
