Job Title: Autistic Resource-Based Teacher
Location: Southampton, Hampshire
Salary: £30,000 - £46,535 per annum (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate start
Contract Type: Full-time/Permanent

About the Role:

As an Autistic Resource-Based Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in providing bespoke educational support to students with autism spectrum conditions. You will design and deliver differentiated lessons, promote social and emotional development and work collaboratively to ensure every student achieves their full potential.

Responsibilities of the Autistic Resource-Based Teacher:

  • Plan and implement tailored lessons that accommodate the individual needs, abilities and interests of students within the resource base.
  • Create a structured, supportive and engaging environment that fosters learning and development.
  • Develop Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and monitor student progress, adjusting strategies as needed.
  • Use evidence-based interventions to address communication, sensory and behavioural challenges.
  • Collaborate with SENCOs, teaching assistants, therapists and parents to provide holistic support for students.
  • Promote inclusion, encouraging integration with the wider school community when appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with safeguarding and SEN regulations.

Requirements of the Autistic Resource-Based Teacher:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Proven experience teaching students with autism, ideally within a resource-based or specialised setting.
  • Strong knowledge of autism spectrum conditions and best practices for support and intervention.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build trust with students, families and colleagues.
  • Patience, resilience and creativity to meet the diverse needs of learners.
  • Have an updated CV (with two relevant references from the last two years and covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
