GSL Education are seeking an empathetic and dedicated Behaviour Support Worker to join a nurturing school in Weymouth. This pivotal role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting students who face behavioural challenges, ensuring they can access their education in a safe, inclusive and supportive environment.

About The Role:

As a Behaviour Support Worker, you will provide tailored support to students who may face social, emotional and behavioural difficulties. Working closely with teachers, pastoral staff and other professionals, your focus will be on fostering positive behaviour, emotional resilience and academic engagement.

Responsibilities of Behaviour Support Worker:

  • Offer one-to-one and group support to students, addressing their specific behavioural and emotional needs.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs) and individualised strategies.
  • Promote positive behaviour management techniques and provide de-escalation support where required.
  • Build trusting relationships with students, acting as a mentor and role model.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents and external agencies to ensure holistic support for each student.
  • Maintain detailed records of interventions and progress, contributing to assessments and reports.

The successful candidate will:

  • Prior experience in supporting young people with behavioural challenges is highly advantageous.
  • A relevant qualification in education, psychology, social work, or a related field is desirable.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport quickly.
  • A calm, patient and non-judgemental approach to challenging situations.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
