About The Role:

As an Autism Support Worker, you will play a pivotal role in fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for students with autism. Your guidance will empower students to navigate their academic and social journeys with confidence and independence.

Responsibilities of Autism Support Worker:

  • Provide personalised assistance to students with autism, tailoring strategies to meet their individual needs.
  • Foster active participation in classroom activities while addressing barriers to learning.
  • Support students in developing communication and interpersonal skills, enhancing their confidence and self-esteem.
  • Implement effective strategies to address behavioural challenges with empathy and professionalism.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and parents to deliver holistic support plans.
  • Record and report on students' achievements and areas for development to ensure targeted support.
  • Promote acceptance and understanding of autism within the school community.

The successful candidate will:

  • Previous experience supporting individuals with autism in educational, care, or therapeutic settings.
  • Additional qualifications in SEN or autism support are advantageous.
  • Understanding of autism spectrum conditions and strategies for effective support.
  • A caring and adaptable approach to meeting the diverse needs of students.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities to liaise effectively with students, parents and colleagues.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
