Job Title: SLD Teaching Assistant (TA)
Location: Bournemouth
Salary: £12.82 - 14.72 per hour [Depending on experience]
Start: Immediate
Contract: Full-time / part-time
GSL Education are excited to offer an opportunity for a compassionate and dedicated SLD (Severe Learning Disabilities) Teaching Assistant (TA) to join a well-established school in Bournemouth. Key Responsibilities:
- Support students with Severe Learning Disabilities (SLD) in a one-to-one or small group setting.
- Assist with personal care, where required, ensuring the students’ safety and well-being.
- Work closely with the class teacher to deliver tailored support and activities that meet the individual needs of the students.
- Help students with communication, social, and emotional skills development through structured interventions.
- Foster an inclusive learning environment by promoting positive behaviour and engagement.
- Contribute to the preparation of resources and classroom displays to enhance learning.
- Provide feedback and updates on student progress to the teaching team and parents/guardians when necessary.
- Follow the school’s safeguarding and health & safety policies to ensure a safe learning environment.
What We Are Looking For:
We are looking for an individual who has a strong commitment to working with children with special educational needs and who possesses the following qualities:
- Experience working with children or young people with learning disabilities, particularly SLD, is highly desirable.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to build positive relationships with students who have diverse needs.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to adapt to different learning styles.
- An understanding of safeguarding principles and child protection policies.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A flexible and positive approach to work.
- Have an enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education.
