Teaching Assistant - SEN

Salary: £83.33 - £95.00 per day (Depending on Experience)

GSL Education are seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant - SEN to join a welcoming and inclusive school in Lincoln. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a supportive environment and is committed to helping students achieve their full potential.
As a Teaching Assistant - SEN, you will work closely with teachers and other support staff to provide tailored assistance to students with additional learning needs. You will play a key role in fostering a positive learning environment where every student feels valued and supported.
SEN TA Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEN, adapting learning materials to meet individual needs.
- Assist the teacher in planning and delivering tailored lessons and activities.
- Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student engagement and confidence.
- Help students with their social, emotional, and behavioural development.
- Support students in accessing the curriculum, ensuring they can participate fully in classroom activities.
- Monitor and report on student progress, collaborating with teachers and SEN staff to meet individual targets.
- Use effective behaviour management strategies to ensure a safe and structured classroom.
- Assist with personal care and mobility needs where necessary.
- Build strong relationships with students, acting as a positive role model and mentor.
- Foster open communication with parents and caregivers regarding student progress and needs.
Requirements for an SEN Teaching Assistant:
- CACHE Level 3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Teaching Assistant or childcare certification is desirable.
- Any degree in Education, Psychology or in a relevant field.
- Previous experience working with children with SEN in an educational setting as a Teaching Assistant - SEN is essential.
- A genuine passion for supporting students with additional needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to build trusting relationships with students.
- A proactive and adaptable approach to meet the changing needs of the classroom.
- Knowledge of various special educational needs such as Autism, ADHD, SEMH and other learning difficulties.
