Autism Teaching Assistant
Location: York, North Yorkshire
Contract: Full Time, Term Time Only
Salary: £1805 – £2166 per month
Start Date: As soon as possible

Are you passionate about making a positive impact in education? A unique and inclusive educational setting in York is seeking a compassionate Teaching Assistant to support children and young people with autism.

About the Role:

  • Provide tailored support to students with autism, empowering them to succeed socially, emotionally and academically.
  • Offer 1:1 and small group support, adapting your approach to individual learning needs.
  • Assist in managing behaviour and implementing strategies that promote positive development.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to create an inclusive, engaging learning environment.
  • Help students develop confidence, independence, and essential life skills.

What We're Looking For:

  • Previous experience working with autism or special educational needs is preferred but not essential.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to build strong, trusting relationships with students.
  • A proactive and dedicated individual who is passionate about supporting young people to achieve their full potential.
  • Hands on experience or in-depth knowledge on autism and how to adapt learning materials to meet the needs of young people with additional needs.
  • You must have the legal Right to Work in the UK and be able to provide relevant references from within the last 2 years.
