Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Boscombe
Salary: £12.82 - £14.72 Per Hour (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: January 2025
Contract Type: Full-Time/Part-Time

Are you ready to support and inspire students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? GSL Education are looking for an enthusiastic SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a dynamic team in Boscombe.

As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work with students who face emotional and behavioural challenges. Your role will involve providing tailored support to help these students achieve their academic goals, engage in positive behaviours, and feel confident in their learning journey. You'll work closely with teachers and specialists to create a supportive and nurturing environment where students can succeed.

Responsibilities of an SEMH TA:

  • Provide one-to-one and group support for students with SEMH needs.
  • Develop and implement strategies to promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
  • Assist with managing challenging behaviour and create safe, structured learning environments.
  • Help students build social and emotional skills in line with their academic curriculum.
  • Support the delivery of personalised learning plans and interventions.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and support staff to track progress and ensure a holistic approach.

SEMH Teaching Assistant Job Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting students with SEMH or similar needs is beneficial.
  • Knowledge about social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH).
  • A compassionate and patient approach to working with students who require additional support.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Experience managing challenging behaviours effectively.

  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from the last two years.
  • Possess an enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
