Job Title: General Teaching Assistant – Secondary
Location: Barnsley, South Yorkshire (S70)
Salary Range: £94 - £115 per day (Depending on experience)
Start time: January 2025
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

As a General Teaching Assistant, you will provide essential support to teachers and students across various subjects. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about education and looking to make a meaningful impact in the classroom.

Responsibilities of the General Teaching Assistant:

  • Assist teachers in delivering lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students who need extra help.
  • Help prepare classroom materials and ensure lessons run smoothly.
  • Support students with special educational needs (SEN) where required.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and engagement in the classroom.
  • Monitor and report on student progress to teaching staff.

Requirements of the General Teaching Assistant:

  • Previous experience in a similar role is preferred but not essential.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A proactive and adaptable approach to supporting various subjects.
  • An understanding of safeguarding practices in schools.
  • A commitment to promoting an inclusive and positive learning environment.
  • Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
