We are currently seeking a dedicated and passionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team in Gosport and work with children who have a range of special educational needs. Role Overview:
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide crucial support to students with a range of special educational needs, working alongside our teaching staff to ensure all students can access the curriculum in a way that meets their individual needs. You will be a key part of our dedicated SEN team, providing both academic and emotional support to students in and out of the classroom.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the class teacher to support students with special educational needs, including those with autism, dyslexia, physical disabilities, and emotional/behavioural needs.
  • Offer individual or group interventions to support learning and personal development.
  • Assist in the preparation of learning resources and adapt materials to meet students' specific needs.
  • Provide support for students during lessons, helping them to focus, understand instructions, and complete tasks.
  • Promote inclusion and social interaction between students of different abilities.
  • Support the implementation of personalised learning plans and targets for each student.
  • Help with classroom management and maintaining a positive learning environment.
  • Assist students during breaks and extra-curricular activities, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Monitor and record students' progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents as required.

What We Are Looking For:

We are looking for an individual who has a strong commitment to working with children with special educational needs and who possesses the following qualities:

  • Previous experience working with children with special needs, either in a school or similar setting, is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of various SEN, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD), ADHD, learning disabilities, and emotional/behavioral difficulties.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with children, teachers, and parents.
  • A compassionate, patient, and empathetic approach when working with children.
  • A team player with a flexible and proactive attitude to support students’ learning needs.
  • Relevant qualifications such as a Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or 3) or equivalent is an advantage.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

To work with GSL Education as a SEN Teaching Assistant, you should:

  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years.
  • Have an enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education.
