Job Title: SEN Teacher
Location: Dorchester
Pay Rate: £31,650 - £49,084 (Depending on experience)
Start Date: January / April 2025
Contract: Full Time/Permanent

About the Role:

As an SEN Teacher, you will be at the forefront of delivering tailored educational programmes designed to meet the diverse needs of students with special educational needs. Your role will be pivotal in fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment where all students can thrive.

SEN Teacher Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualised learning plans that cater to the specific needs of each student, ensuring they achieve their full potential.
  • Create a structured and positive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and learning.
  • Work closely with teaching assistants, SEN coordinators and other staff to provide holistic support to students.
  • Regularly assess and track student progress, adjusting teaching methods as necessary to meet individual needs.
  • Maintain open and effective communication with parents and carers, providing updates on student progress and addressing any concerns.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development to stay current with best practices in SEN education.

SEN Teacher Job Requirements:

  • A recognised teaching qualification (QTS, or equivalent) and a specialisation or additional qualification in Special Educational Needs.
  • Proven experience working with children with SEN in a school setting, demonstrating a strong understanding of various SEN strategies and interventions.
  • Strong classroom management skills, excellent communication and the ability to engage and motivate students.
  • Willingness to work on a casual basis with availability to cover at short notice.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff and families
  • A genuine enthusiasm for teaching and the ability to inspire students to achieve their best.

  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years.
  • Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education.
