SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Southampton
Salary: £12.82 to £14.72 per hour (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediately
Contract Type: Day-to-Day / Long-Term, Full-Time / Part-Time

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join schools in Southampton. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to work closely with students, empowering them to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their potential.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with diverse learning needs. Your responsibilities will include providing tailored assistance, ensuring students are engaged and motivated, and fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.

SEN TA Responsibilities:

  • Support students with SEN, including Autism, ADHD, and other additional needs, in their learning journey.
  • Assist the class teacher in implementing tailored strategies to meet students' individual needs.
  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to ensure students remain focused and engaged.
  • Help create a safe and inclusive classroom environment that promotes positive learning experiences.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and other staff to deliver effective support plans.
  • Monitor and report on students' progress to the teacher and SENCO.
  • Encourage students' social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Assist with classroom resources and maintain a tidy and organised environment.

Requirements for SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Previous experience working as a SEN Teaching Assistant or with children with SEN in an educational setting.
  • Relevant qualifications such as CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Childcare or equivalent.
  • A compassionate and patient approach to working with children.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Understanding of safeguarding practices and the ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from the last two years.
  • Possess a DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
