We are currently working with a SEN Trust in Fareham, a supportive and inclusive school, to recruit a passionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team. Role Overview:
We are looking for a compassionate and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to support students with a range of special educational needs. As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other support staff to help students with learning, emotional, and behavioral challenges access the curriculum and engage in a meaningful and supportive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one or small group support for students with special educational needs (SEN), including autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other learning difficulties.
- Assist in the creation and implementation of individual learning plans (IEPs) and personalised learning strategies.
- Support students in their social, emotional, and academic development, fostering independence and confidence.
- Help to adapt teaching resources and activities to meet the specific needs of students.
- Monitor and record students’ progress, offering feedback and support to ensure they achieve their learning goals.
- Support students during breaks, lunchtime, and extracurricular activities to ensure their safety and well-being.
- Assist in managing behavior using positive reinforcement techniques and help create a positive, inclusive classroom atmosphere.
- Work closely with teachers, SENCO, and other professionals to promote the overall development of the students.
Who We Are Looking For:
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
- Previous experience working with children with special educational needs is desirable, but not essential.
- Understanding of a range of SEN, including autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and learning disabilities.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- A patient, adaptable, and proactive approach to supporting students.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also using initiative when needed.
- Relevant qualifications, such as a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, are preferred but not essential.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- A DBS check will be required, or one in place.

- Have the right to work in the UK.
- Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years.
- Have a DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education
