Food Technology Teacher
Location: Southampton, Hampshire
Salary: £30,000 - £46,535 per annum (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: January 2025
Contract Type: Day-to-Day / Long-Term, Full-Time / Part-Time

GSL Education are looking for an inspiring Food Technology Teacher to join secondary schools in Southampton from January 2025. This exciting role offers flexibility, allowing you to work full-time or part-time, with options for day-to-day or long-term placements.

As a Food Technology Teacher, you will inspire students to explore the world of culinary arts and nutrition. You will create engaging lessons that encourage practical skills, creativity, and an understanding of the importance of food in daily life.

Responsibilities of a Food Technology Teacher:

  • Plan and deliver dynamic Food Technology lessons aligned with the national curriculum.
  • Teach students across Key Stages, helping them develop practical cooking skills and theoretical knowledge.
  • Foster creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving through hands-on projects and activities.
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment, adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback to support improvement.
  • Inspire students to appreciate the value of nutrition, food science, and healthy eating habits.
  • Prepare students for coursework, assessments, and exams, ensuring they achieve their potential.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop resources and enhance the Food Technology curriculum.

Job Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent qualification such as QTLS or PGCE is required.
  • A degree in Food Technology, Nutrition, or a related field is essential.
  • Previous experience teaching Food Technology in secondary schools is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of the Food Technology curriculum and relevant teaching strategies.
  • Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to engage and inspire students.
  • Commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with students, parents, and staff.

  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from the last two years.
  • Possess a DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
