English Teacher
Location: Southampton, Hampshire
Salary: £30,000 - £46,535 per annum (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: January 2025
Contract Type: Day-to-Day / Long-Term, Full-Time / Part-Time

GSL Education are seeking an enthusiastic English Teacher to join schools in Southampton from January 2025. This role offers flexible working arrangements, including full-time or part-time contracts, as well as day-to-day or long-term opportunities.

As an English Teacher, you will deliver captivating lessons that encourage students to explore the richness of language and literature. By fostering creativity, critical thinking, and effective communication skills, you will guide students in their academic journeys and help them achieve their full potential.

Responsibilities of an English Teacher:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and dynamic English lessons in accordance with the national curriculum.
  • Teach students across Key Stages, tailoring lessons to meet individual learning needs.
  • Develop students' reading, writing, and analytical skills, promoting a love for literature and language.
  • Assess, monitor, and evaluate student progress, providing constructive feedback to support improvement.
  • Create an inclusive and inspiring classroom environment that fosters learning and personal growth.
  • Support students in preparing for exams and achieving their academic goals.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance teaching practices and share resources.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and maintain high standards of discipline in the classroom.

Teacher of English Job Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent qualification such as QTLS or PGCE is required.
  • A degree in English or a related field is essential.
  • Previous experience teaching English in secondary schools is highly desirable.
  • Excellent knowledge of the English curriculum and teaching strategies.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to engage and inspire students.
  • Commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills for effective collaboration with staff, students, and parents.

  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from the last two years.
  • Possess a DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
