Additional Needs Teaching Assistant

Location: York, North Yorkshire

Start Date: January 2025
Salary: £83 - £100
per day

Contract Type: Full-Time

Are you passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities? If so, we want you to join our dedicated team at an excellent Client Secondary School in York, North Yorkshire, to work asan Additional Needs Teaching Assistant, starting in January 2025.

Additional Needs Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement individualized support plans for students with special needs.
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to children with diverse Special Educational Needs
  • Assist in the delivery of tailored learning plans.
  • Deliver intervention programmes to individuals and small groups, preparing relevant and appropriate learning experiences in conjunction with the department staff.
  • Provide personal care or mobility assistance when necessary.
  • Assessing student progress and providing feedback to teachers and SENCOs.
  • Supervising students during activities, ensuring their safety and wellbeing.
  • Support communication through verbal and non-verbal techniques.

Additional Needs Teaching Assistant Requirements:

  • Relevant qualifications and certifications as a Teaching Assistant or a Degree related to Education or Psychology.
  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND in a school or care setting.
  • Understanding and knowledge of Special Educational Needs.
  • Passion for education and a genuine desire to make a difference.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a patient and adaptable approach.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management techniques and strategies for supporting students with SEN.
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for a new one.
