About the Role
As a Secondary ECT in Sunderland, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and effective lessons to students of varying abilities. You will create a stimulating learning environment, develop lesson plans that meet curriculum standards, and use a variety of teaching methods to cater to different learning styles. Your role will also involve assessing students’ progress, providing feedback, and supporting their academic and personal development. You will work closely with other teachers and staff to ensure a cohesive and supportive educational experience for all students.
Responsibilities of Early Career Teacher (ECT) - Secondary
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons across various subjects.
- Teach students aged 11-16.
- Develop and implement innovative teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
- Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback.
- Collaborate with colleagues to create a cohesive and supportive educational environment.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the curriculum and teaching best practices.
- Foster a positive classroom atmosphere that encourages student participation and engagement.
- Support students in their academic and personal development.
Requirements of Early Career Teacher (ECT) - Secondary
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a Secondary ECT or in a similar teaching role.
- Strong knowledge of the secondary curriculum and effective teaching methods.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

- Have the right to work in the UK.
- Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years.
- Have a DBS registered to the Update Service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education.
