SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Weymouth
Salary: £12.82 to £14.72 per hour (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: January 2025
Contract Type: Full-time / Part-time

GSL Education are looking for a SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA) to join outstanding schools in Weymouth. As a SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA), you will play a key role in supporting children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, ensuring they thrive academically and socially. This role requires patience, resilience, and a passion for making a difference to children’s lives.

About the Role

As a SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA), you will work closely with teachers and pastoral teams to implement individualised support plans, helping students overcome barriers to learning. This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of an inclusive and supportive environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to children with SEMH needs.
  • Assist the classroom teacher with lesson preparation and delivery.
  • Foster a safe and positive learning environment for students.
  • Encourage students’ social, emotional, and personal development.
  • Manage challenging behaviours and help students build coping strategies.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as a SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA) or in a similar role is desirable.
  • A strong understanding of SEMH needs and strategies to support them.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Resilience, empathy, and a nurturing approach to supporting children.
  • An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
