Are you passionate about making a positive impact on students' behaviour and well-being? GSL Education are seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Assistant to join a local school based in Poole to support students' social and emotional development.

About the Role:
As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in promoting positive behaviour and fostering a supportive learning environment for students. This includes supporting with their education, but also their holistic development, such as students’ communication, social skills and independence.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the implementation of behaviour support plans (BSPs) developed by teachers and SENCO, ensuring consistency and effectiveness in managing challenging behaviours.
  • Offer one-on-one or small group support to students with behavioural challenges, helping them to understand and manage their emotions and behaviours in various settings.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment by promoting and reinforcing positive behaviour and social skills among students.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCO, and external professionals to develop and review behaviour intervention strategies tailored to individual student needs.
  • Monitor student behaviour and progress, maintaining accurate records and providing feedback to teachers and parents/guardians as necessary.
  • Assist teachers in maintaining a productive learning environment by implementing proactive strategies and providing support during lessons.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with students with behavioural challenges in an educational or similar setting.
  • Understanding of behaviour management techniques and strategies.
  • Empathy, patience, and resilience to effectively support students in managing their behaviour and emotions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with students, staff, and parents/guardians.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, contributing to a positive school community.
