Learning Support Assistant
Location: Southend, Chelmsford
Learning Support Assistant Salary: £85 - £100 per day
Start: ASAP
Contract Type: Full-time/Part-time
GSL Education’s Chelmsford branch are looking for a dynamic Learning Support Assistantto support our classroom teachers and enhance the learning experience for our students. This role is ideal for those looking to gain valuable experience and support students in a specialist SEMH school inSouthend.
Job Summary: As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with students with SEMH needs, helping them overcome learning barriers and supporting their academic and personal development. You will play a crucial role in creating a safe and nurturing environment, enabling students to engage with their education and build confidence in their abilities.
Learning Support Assistant Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and group support to students with SEMH needs
- Assist in the planning and delivery of tailored learning activities
- Help to manage challenging behavior in a calm and professional manner
- Foster positive relationships with students, encouraging their emotional and social development
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other staff members to ensure the best outcomes for students
- Support students both in and out of the classroom, including during break times and off-site activities
Requirements for Learning Support Assistant:
- A Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning, Health and Social Care, or a similar field is desirable but not essential
- Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs (experience in an SEMH or special school is desirable)
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to working with vulnerable students
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- The ability to build positive relationships and provide consistent, nurturing support
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
