Learning Support Assistant (LSA)

Location: Chelmsford

Pay Scale: £75 - £120 Per Day

Contract Type: Full-Time

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our inclusive and supportive school in Maldon. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a pivotal role in assisting students with diverse learning needs, ensuring they reach their full potential.

The Role:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will support students both in and outside the classroom, providing one-on-one assistance or working with small groups. You will work closely with teachers to ensure that students with special educational needs (SEN) or other learning challenges receive the tailored support they need to thrive.

Key Responsibilities of Learning Support Assistant:

  • Assist students with learning difficulties or disabilities by adapting learning materials and strategies to meet individual needs.
  • Provide in-class support during lessons, helping students stay engaged and on task.
  • Support the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) by working alongside classroom teachers and the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator).
  • Help maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting self-esteem and independence among students.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers to ensure that students receive appropriate support.
  • Contribute to the planning of activities and learning interventions that support the academic, social, and emotional development of students.

Essential Requirements of Learning Support Assistant:

  • Previous experience as a Learning Support Assistant or in a similar role is desirable.
  • Knowledge of SEN and an understanding of various learning needs and challenges.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, students, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping students succeed.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and child protection, with all applicants required to undergo background checks, including an enhanced DBS registered to the update service or the willingness to apply for one.
