About the Role
As a Primary Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting young children with their education. You will work closely with teachers to provide one-on-one and group support, helping children to improve their understanding of various subjects and their practical skills. Your role will also involve assisting in the preparation of lesson materials, supporting classroom activities, and providing feedback on student progress.

Key Responsibilities of Primary Teaching Assistant (TA)

  • Collaborate with teachers to create tailored learning plans that address the specific needs of each child. Regularly review and adjust these plans to ensure they remain effective and relevant.
  • Teach a range of subjects to students in Key Stage 1 (ages 5-7) and Key Stage 2 (ages 7-11).
  • Offer individual and small group interventions to help children improve their knowledge and skills. Use evidence-based strategies to support children in developing their understanding of various concepts and practical applications.
  • Teach and reinforce effective study techniques, helping children to understand and engage with their studies. Encourage positive interactions and model appropriate behaviour.
  • Work alongside classroom teachers to implement learning strategies that promote a positive and inclusive learning environment. Support teachers in addressing learning challenges and fostering a culture of respect and cooperation.
  • Maintain detailed records of children’s progress and any interventions used. Provide regular updates to teachers, parents, and other relevant parties to ensure a coordinated approach to each child’s development.
  • Ensure that children receive comprehensive support by collaborating with counsellors, social workers, and other professionals to address the broader needs of children and their families.

Requirements of Primary Teaching Assistant (TA)

  • Previous experience as a primary Teaching Assistant or in a similar role.
  • A genuine passion for supporting young children in their educational journey.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in education are desirable.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
