SEN Specialist (Primary)
Location: Colchester
Salary: £83 - £100 a day
Start Date: Immediately
Contract Type: Full time

Are you passionate about helping young children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? GSL Education are looking for an enthusiastic SEN Specialist to join a fantastic primary school in Colchester.

As an SEN Specialist, you will play a key role in providing targeted support to children with additional needs in a primary setting. You will work closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to create an inclusive environment that allows every child to thrive.

Responsibilities as a SEN Specialist (Primary),:

  • Support children with Special Educational Needs in the classroom and during other school activities
  • Work 1:1 or in small groups with pupils to meet their learning goals
  • Collaborate with teachers to develop tailored learning plans for pupils with SEN
  • Monitor and report on the progress of pupils
  • Help manage behaviour and ensure a positive learning atmosphere
  • Liaise with parents and external professionals regarding pupil progress and needs

To be a successful SEN Specialist ( Primary) you should:

  • Previous experience as an SEN Specialist (Primary) or in a similar role
  • Knowledge of SEN strategies and interventions
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to adapt to different learning needs and styles
  • A patient and nurturing approach to working with children
  • Have an updated CV (covering last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
