SEN Learning Support Assistant
Location: Colchester, Chelmsford
Salary: £85 - £100 per day
Start Date: ASAP

GSL Education’s Chelmsford branch is seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate SEN Learning Support Assistant to join a dedicated SEN school in Colchester. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and making a real difference in their educational journey.

Key Responsibilities for SEN Learning Support Assistant

  • Support students with a range of Special Educational Needs in the classroom, on a one-to-one or small group basis.
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities and adapting materials to meet individual learning needs.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment where pupils feel safe and confident.
  • Help with personal care, where necessary, ensuring the dignity and well-being of all students.
  • Monitor and track students' progress, providing feedback to the teacher and SENCO.
  • Build positive relationships with students, encouraging social interaction and emotional resilience.
  • Assist with classroom management and contribute to creating a calm and productive environment.

Qualifications and Experience for SEN Learning Support Assistant:

  • Experience working with children with SEN, particularly within a school setting, is highly desirable.
  • Patience, empathy, and a strong commitment to supporting students' learning and development.
  • Knowledge of SEN strategies, particularly for conditions such as Autism, ADHD, and Speech & Language difficulties.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • A valid DBS on the Update Service or a willingness to apply for one.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
