SEN (Special Educational Needs) Teaching Assistant
Location: Southbourne
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time / Part-time
Salary Scale: £76.92 - £95.68 per day (Depending on experience)
GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join one of our client schools in Southbourne. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers to provide tailored support, ensuring every student can thrive and succeed. This position offers a fantastic opportunity to make a significant impact in the lives of young learners.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be supporting the educational and personal development of students with special educational needs, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Responsibilities of an SEN Teaching Assistant:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with special educational needs
- Assist the class teacher with lesson planning, adapting resources as needed to support SEN students
- Support students in developing social skills, confidence, and self-regulation
- Collaborate with school staff, parents, and external professionals to tailor learning strategies
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records for teachers and SEN coordinators
Required Qualifications for an SEN Teaching Assistant:
- Experience in a similar role supporting SEN students, preferably within an educational setting
- Knowledge of various SEN conditions and effective support strategies
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- An empathetic, patient, and positive approach to student development
- A commitment to safeguarding and child protection policies
