SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Tower Hamlets
Salary: £90-£100 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: 6th January 2025
Hours: 8.30 am - 3.45 pm
Contract Type: Long-Term, Full-Time

GSL Education are seeking an experienced and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join an 'Outstanding' Ofsted-rated school in Tower Hamlets starting 6th January 2025.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students to help them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children with additional needs while being part of a supportive and collaborative staff team.

SEN Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with special educational needs.
- Assist in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) to address specific learning requirements.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
- Support the classroom teacher with daily lesson delivery and classroom management.
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers and parents.
- Adapt learning materials and teaching techniques to accommodate individual student needs.
- Manage challenging behaviour effectively, following the school’s behaviour policies.
- Prepare and organise resources to support differentiated learning activities.
- Collaborate with other professionals, including SENCOs, therapists, and external agencies, to deliver holistic support for students.
Requirements of a SEN Teaching Assistant:
- Experience working with children, ideally in a Special Educational Needs (SEN) setting.
- CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance, or a relevant qualification is desirable.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, or a related field is advantageous.
- Knowledge of SEN strategies, including autism and social, emotional, and mental health needs.
- Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills.
- Ability to build rapport with students, staff, and parents.
- A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
