About the Role
As a SEN Teaching Assistant in Southampton, you will play a vital role in providing tailored support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), helping them to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable experience in a supportive and inclusive educational environment.

Key Responsibilities of SEN Teaching Assistant

  • Support students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in their academic and personal development.
  • Teach a range of subjects to students aged 11-16.
  • Work closely with teachers and other staff to create a supportive learning environment.
  • Implement individualized support plans and strategies.
  • Assist in managing classroom behaviour and promoting positive interactions.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support as needed.
  • Monitor and report on student progress and well-being.

Requirements of SEN Teaching Assistant

  • Relevant qualifications in supporting students with special educational needs (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting young people.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in SEN support (desirable but not essential).

To work with GSL Education as a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will need:

  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years.
  • Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education.
