Cover Supervisor
Location: York, North Yorkshire
Start Date: January 2025
Salary: £93 – £106 per day
GSL Education’s North Yorkshire branch is looking for Cover Supervisors to work at a Client Secondary School located 19 miles north of York, starting in January 2025. As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in maintaining high-quality teaching and learning during teacher absences.

Cover Supervisor Responsibilities:
- Provide short term cover for absent teaching staff, allocating pre-prepared work.
- Supervising classes and ensuring students remain engaged with pre-set work.
- Keep students on task and manage the behaviour of students during lessons.
- Support students with any questions or problems during lessons.
- Provide feedback to the class teacher on pupil attendance, engagement and completion of work tasks.
- The role does not involve planning, preparing, delivering lessons or assessing and reporting on the development progress.
Cover Supervisor Requirements:
- Hold relevant qualifications or transferable skills to support the role.
- Have experience working with young people, ideally in an educational setting
- Have knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies.
- Empathise with young people and have good interpersonal and communication skills.
- A passion for education and supporting young people.
- Hold a Child only Enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for a new one.
