As a Science Technician, you will play a crucial role in aiding teachers and students by preparing equipment and maintaining a safe, well-organized lab environment. The school prides itself on fostering an inclusive culture that values the contributions of every team member.
Key Responsibilities of the Science Technician:
- Preparing and setting up equipment, materials, and solutions for science experiments and lessons across Key Stages 3 to 5.
- Ensuring all equipment and chemicals are stored, handled, and disposed of in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Supporting science teachers during practical lessons, ensuring experiments run smoothly.
- Maintaining laboratory equipment, conducting routine safety checks, and reporting any faults.
- Organizing and managing the inventory of lab supplies, ensuring stock levels are sufficient for teaching needs.
- Assisting in the development of engaging science resources and materials.
- Promoting a safe and efficient lab environment by adhering to safety protocols and good practices.
Requirements for the Science Technician Role:
- Previous experience as a Science Technician or in a similar role is highly desirable.
- A good understanding of health and safety regulations within a laboratory setting.
- A science-related qualification (e.g., GCSEs, A-levels, or a degree) is advantageous.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff.
- A proactive and adaptable approach to supporting the science curriculum.
