About the Role:
As an Art Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and imaginative lessons that encourage students to explore their creativity and develop their skills in various artistic disciplines. From painting and sculpture to digital design, you will guide students in expressing themselves through art while teaching fundamental techniques and theory.
Art Teacher Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver dynamic art lessons aligned with the national curriculum and tailored to students’ diverse abilities.
- Introduce students to a wide range of artistic techniques, mediums and styles, encouraging innovation and experimentation.
- Foster a supportive classroom environment where students feel confident to express their creativity.
- Promote critical thinking and appreciation for art through discussions on historical and contemporary works.
- Organise and participate in school exhibitions, showcasing students’ artwork to the wider community.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback to enhance their learning experience.
- Collaborate with colleagues to contribute to the school’s arts programme and cross-curricular initiatives.
Art Teacher Job Requirements:
- A recognised teaching qualification (QTS, or equivalent).
- A degree in Fine Arts, Art Education, or a related field.
- Proven experience teaching art in a school or classroom setting, with a strong understanding of curriculum standards.
- Exceptional artistic skills and a passion for fostering creativity in young learners.
- Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and engage students.
- A commitment to safeguarding and the ability to create a safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education.
