Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant

Salary: £83.33 - £90.00 per day (Depending on experience)

This role is ideal for someone enthusiastic about making a positive impact on the lives of students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

About the Role:

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will be a key member of the school's support team, providing tailored assistance to students with SEMH needs. Your efforts will help create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment, enabling students to thrive both academically and personally.

Essential Qualities That We Are Looking For:

  • Implement personalised support plans for students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.
  • Offer one-on-one and small group support, focusing on students' academic and emotional well-being.
  • Assist teachers in adapting and differentiating lesson plans to cater to the needs of SEMH students.
  • Monitor and document student progress, providing regular feedback and modifying strategies as necessary.
  • Foster a safe and supportive classroom atmosphere that promotes active participation and engagement.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, carers and external professionals to ensure comprehensive support for students.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay updated on best practices in Social, Emotional and Mental Health education.

The Successful Candidate Will:

  • Have experience working with students with SEMH needs in an educational setting.
  • Have a profound understanding of the challenges faced by students with SEMH difficulties.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Patience, compassion and resilience in supporting students with complex needs.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to adapt to varying situations.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and safeguarding practices.
  • A collaborative and proactive attitude, contributing to the wider school community.

What Do We Want From You: To thrive in these roles, you should:

  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Have an updated CV (with two relevant references from the last two years and covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps)
  • An enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one with GSL Education).
