Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant (Primary)
Location: Newcastle
Pay Rate: £87 - £108 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Daily Supply, Long Term

GSL Education are seeking an empathetic and dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant for an outstanding primary school in Newcastle. This role comes with pride in helping students achieve their full potential through tailored support and innovative teaching methods.
About the Role:
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing tailored support to students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable experience in a supportive and inclusive educational environment.
Responsibilities of SEMH Teaching Assistant:
- Support students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs in their academic and personal development.
- Work closely with teachers and other staff to create a supportive learning environment.
- Implement individualised support plans and strategies.
- Assist in managing classroom behaviour and promoting positive interactions.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support as needed.
- Monitor and report on student progress and well-being.
Requirements of SEMH Teaching Assistant:
- Prior experience working with children, particularly those with SEMH needs, is desirable.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
- Patience, empathy and a genuine passion for supporting young people.
- Relevant qualifications or training in Social, Emotional and Mental Health support (desirable but not essential).
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
