Salary: £12.82 - £14.72 per hour (Depending on Experience)

GSL Education are seeking a compassionate and skilled Mental Health Support Worker to join a supportive school community in Dorchester. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to work closely with students, ensuring their well-being and development in a nurturing learning environment.

As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will provide essential support to students facing emotional and mental health challenges, fostering a safe and inclusive atmosphere where they can flourish. Through collaboration with staff and specialists, you will be instrumental in creating tailored strategies to support students' mental health and educational goals.

Responsibilities of a Mental Health Support Worker:

  • Offer one-to-one and group support to students with mental health challenges, fostering resilience and confidence.
  • Assist in implementing personalised support plans, helping students manage their mental health needs effectively.
  • Promote emotional well-being and positive behaviour through active listening and encouragement.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and pastoral staff to ensure a cohesive support network for students.
  • Help students access resources and develop coping strategies to navigate challenges.
  • Monitor student progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and other professionals.
  • Contribute to maintaining a safe, respectful, and inclusive school environment.

Mental Health Support Worker Qualifications:

  • Experience working as a Mental Health Support Worker or in a similar role supporting individuals with mental health challenges.
  • Relevant qualifications in health, education, or care, such as CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3, or equivalent.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build trust and rapport with students.
  • Understanding of mental health challenges and strategies to support individuals effectively.
  • Patience, empathy, and a commitment to promoting well-being and success.
  • Organisational skills to manage multiple responsibilities and prioritise tasks efficiently.
