Job description

Role: SEND Teaching Assistant
Location: Wandsworth
Salary: £90 to £110 per day
Job Type: Full-Time

Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)? Do you have the skills, patience, and dedication to support students to thrive both academically and socially? If so, we’d love to hear from you!

My client is a vibrant and supportive school in Wandsworth, committed to transforming the lives of boys aged 5-19 with SEND. Our vision is to provide a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment where every student can flourish and achieve their full potential.

We are currently seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant to join our dynamic and caring team on an ongoing basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with an experienced and dedicated staff body, supporting students with a range of needs including Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and other SEND conditions.

SEND Teaching Assistant Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEND.
  • Work closely with teachers to deliver tailored interventions and adapt learning materials.
  • Help students to develop their social and emotional skills in a positive and inclusive setting.
  • Promote independence and self-confidence in the classroom and beyond.
  • Support the implementation of Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs).

What We’re Looking For:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND is desirable but not essential—enthusiasm and a commitment to supporting our students are key!
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A calm, compassionate, and patient approach to supporting challenging behaviour.
  • A proactive and flexible attitude, with a willingness to learn and grow in the role.

What we offer

  • Competitive pay rates that reflect your skills and experience.
  • A supportive, inclusive, and rewarding working environment.
  • Ongoing professional development and training opportunities.
  • The chance to make a genuine impact on the lives of students with SEND.

If you’re ready to make a meaningful difference and take the next step in your career, we’d love to hear from you!

Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks, including an enhanced DBS on the update service. GSL offers equal opportunities to applicants from all members of the community.
